Each starting class has access to one unique skill tree and one common one. As your character goes up in levels, you are granted build points, which can be applied towards the aspects of the chosen skill tree. A branch may only be followed once, and their is no retracting these points for a differing branch. However, mastery of certain skill trees will allow your character to reach other branches of the larger tree and therefore can be utilized for unique and custom builds. Every two levels your build points will double temporarily, but you can only apply these doubled points to one skill tree. If you do not utilize your skills somewhat frequently, then you may receive a negative build point that can lower scores and cost you more points. Regular use of skills also exercises higher possible modifiers to experience points and even, in some cases, to Notoriety scores.
